Paying in your currency: how prices are converted

Our catalogue is priced in US dollars. Here is how prices are converted when you choose another currency, which exchange rate we use, and what your bank may add.

Our supplier prices its catalogue in US dollars, so our prices start in dollars too, and that is the currency the site shows by default. If you would rather pay in another currency we accept, you can switch in your cart, and prices are converted for you. This article explains how that conversion works, so the number on the payment page is never a surprise.

Which currencies you can pay in

The currencies we accept are listed in the footer of every page and in the currency selector in your cart. The cart only offers currencies that can actually be charged at checkout, so if a currency appears there, you can pay in it.

Switching currency

Choose a currency in your cart. The cart remembers your choice, and prices on the game keys page follow it, so you can compare products in the currency you will pay in. The price filter on that page also works in your chosen currency.

The exchange rate we use

We convert prices using the European Central Bank's reference rates. The ECB publishes a new set of rates each working day, and we check for them every hour. The same rate is used everywhere on the site at any given moment: on product listings, in your cart and at checkout. The total in your cart is the amount the payment page will ask for.

Because the rate changes from day to day, a converted price can move slightly even when the dollar price has not. If you leave a cart for a day or two, the total may differ by a small amount when you come back to it.

What your bank may add

If your card is in a different currency from the one you pay in, your bank converts the payment into your card's currency using its own rate, and some banks charge a fee for this. That conversion happens on your bank's side, after the payment, and we have no control over it.

The way to avoid it is to pay in your card's own currency where we offer it. If your card is in euros and we offer euros, paying in euros means your bank has nothing to convert.

Points and currencies

Points are held in US dollars. If you pay for an order in another currency using points, the order total is converted to dollars at the same rate the site uses for prices, so your points go exactly as far as the price you were shown.

Refunds

Where a card refund is due, it goes back to the card you paid with, in the currency you paid in. If your bank converted the original payment, it will convert the refund too, and exchange rates may have moved in between, so the amount that reaches your account can differ slightly from the original charge. See our Refund Policy for when refunds apply.
