How to redeem a code on the Epic Games Store

Keys for the Epic Games Store are redeemed against an Epic Games account and then installed through the Epic Games Launcher. The process takes about a minute. The more important part comes before you buy: an Epic key only works on Epic, so make sure that is where you want the game.

Epic or Steam?

Many PC games are sold on both the Epic Games Store and Steam, and the two are separate libraries. A key for one cannot be redeemed on the other. On our site the platform is shown as a badge on every product card and on the product page, and the catalogue can be filtered by it. If you already play a series on one platform, for example to keep save files, friends lists or mods in one place, buy the key for that platform.

In the Epic Games Launcher

1. Open the Epic Games Launcher and sign in.
2. Select your profile icon in the top-right corner.
3. Choose Redeem Code.
4. Paste the code and select Redeem.

The game appears in your Library, where you can install it.

On the website

Sign in on the Epic Games Store website, open the account menu under your display name or avatar, and choose Redeem Code. Enter the code and confirm. The next time you open the launcher, the game is in your Library ready to install.

Before you redeem

• Use the right account. Epic accounts can be signed in with several methods, such as an email address or a linked console or social account. If you have more than one Epic account, check which one you are using before redeeming, because the game cannot be moved afterwards.
• Check the activation requirements. Some products have region-specific activation requirements, and these are shown on our product page next to the price.
• Downloadable content needs the base game on the same Epic account.

If the code is rejected

• The code has already been redeemed. If this is the first time you have entered it, stop and contact us with a screenshot.
• The code is invalid. Check for spaces before or after the code, or characters that look alike if you typed it.
• The code cannot be redeemed in your country. The product has a region-specific requirement that does not match your account.
